The Institute is moving to new premises (Einspielerjeva 6, Ljubljana)
We would like to inform you that the Water Institute of the Republic of Slovenia will be moving to new premises on 6 December 2019. From 9 December 2019 onwards, the Institute’s new address will be Einspielerjeva 6, 1000 Ljubljana. Due to the move, we will be unavailable by telephone and email from 2.00 pm on Friday 6 December 2019 until, we expect, Monday 9 December 2019.
MACEDONIANS RECOGNISE THE ROLE OF CARETAKERS IN ADAPTING TO CLIMATE CHANGE
At the invitation of its Macedonian colleagues from the Cyril and Methodius University of Skopje and the Macedonian Chamber of Engineers, the Institute for Water participated in a problem-oriented conference ‘WATER MANAGEMENT AND HYDRAULIC ENGINEERING CHALLENGES’, highlighting the added value of retention basins for the local area and their role in the process of adapting to climate change.

The event, which is taking place in Ljubljana between 25 and 29 November 2019 and is organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, focuses on climate change and the challenges it presents.
We have produced a video animation summarising the key points of the HyMoCARES project
As part of the Interreg Alpine Space HyMoCARES project, which officially concluded on 30 October 2019, we, as part of the partnership, produced an illustrated animated video summarising the key points of the project, including a version in Slovenian.

In Maribor, at the premises of Dravske elektrarne Maribor, the 3rd workshop as part of the HyMoCARES project, entitled ‘Introduction of the concept of ecosystem services as a support for decision-making’, took place on 15 15 October 2019, the third workshop within the HyMoCARES project took place, entitled ‘Introducing the concept of ecosystem services to support decision-making at cross-sectoral and strategic levels’.

On Wednesday 23 October 2019, the 2nd national workshop on ‘Sediment Management’ took place at the House of the European Union; it was organised as part of the DanubeSediment project (Sediment Management in the Danube River Basin, INTERREG Programme – Danube Region).
2nd National Workshop on ‘Sediment Management’
On Wednesday 23 October 2019, the 2nd national workshop on ‘Sediment Management’ will take place as part of the DanubeSediment project (Sediment Management in the Danube River Basin, INTERREG Programme – Danube Region).
The aim of the workshop is to present the results of the DanubeSediment project, which is due to conclude at the end of November this year, and to outline the challenges we face in sediment management in the future.
The workshop will take place at the House of the European Union, Dunajska cesta 20, Ljubljana.

Overview of the ViVaCCAdapt project’s activities in the first half of 2019
The LIFE ViVaCCAdapt project runs from 1 June 2016 to 30 June 2021 and covers various aspects of adapting agriculture to climate change in the Vipava Valley. The project is co-funded by the LIFE programme and the Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning of the Republic of Slovenia.

In September, the Public Scholarship, Development, Disability and Maintenance Fund of the Republic of Slovenia supported the third generation – ten new KOC 3.0 centres of excellence for human resources development – for the period 2019– 2022. With the KOC INOVATIS project, we were selected from a strong field of competitors in the field of ‘Smart Buildings and Homes with a Wood Supply Chain’
