Live water – from biodiversity to the tap

Živa_voda

In LIFE project we were using inovative approaches for rising public awareness on the importance of biodiversity loss of freshwater ecosystems. The key role of IzVRS was to create models for interactive demonstration of the river ecosystem meaning and functions where everyone can find the answer on: »What if I’m gone?« Models can be observed in the castle of Goričko nature park and in the Technical Museum of Slovenia in Bistra pri Vrhniki. For the developed models a brochure was prepared.

Remote sensing of large river hydromorphological characteristics and impact assessment on biotic communities

The project’s aim is to identify and compare impacts of different stressors (hydromorphological alterations, pollution, land use), acting on different spatial scales (reach, segment, catchment), on benthic macroinvertebrate and fish communities in Slovenian large rivers, as well as to analyse the comparability between field survey and remote sensing based hydromorphological...
