As part of the 2nd Geo Slovenia Conference, organised by the Surveying and Mapping Authority of the Republic of Slovenia, a Declaration of Intent was signed to establish the Geo Slovenia Community, representing a significant step towards bringing together stakeholders in the field of spatial and environmental data in Slovenia.

The Director of IzVRS, Mag. Neža Kodre, presented a new project to develop a digital twin of the aquatic environment at the international conference ‘Digital Solutions for Water Management’, which took place in Portorož on 5 and 6 November 2025.

As part of the government’s visit to the Pomurje region, the Minister for Natural Resources and Spatial Planning, Jože Novak, together with the Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Murska Sobota, Dr Timi Gomboc, and the Director of the Slovenian Water Institute, Mag. Neža Kodre, inspected the progress of the emergency measures being carried out at the Rak-1 geothermal well in Rakičan.

On Wednesday, 15 October 2025, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Spatial Planning was visited by a large Polish delegation, which, as part of its study visit, wished to learn about Slovenia’s experience in the field of integrated water management.

The aim of the workshop was to harmonise the various approaches to sampling micro-waste in rivers, with a view to ensuring consistency and comparability of results amongst the project partners. Such methodological harmonisation and the exchange of experiences are crucial for reliable project results across all pilot sites.

Staff at the Slovenian Water Institute are co-authors of an article based on data collected through citizen science as part of the Plastic Pirates project.
