IzVRS is participating as a partner in the new European STRIVER project – Strengthening the resilience of transboundary river basins to climate change, with a focus on extreme hydrological events, which is being implemented under the INTERREG Slovenia–Croatia programme.
The project launch agreement was signed on 2 March this year, and the partners met in person for the first time at the project’s kick-off meeting, which took place on Friday 6 March in Novo Mesto.

A series of webinars will introduce participants to the basics of monitoring macro-litter in rivers in accordance with the guidelines of the Marine Litter Technical Group (MSFD TGML and CORMON) at regional and EU level, with a focus on the collection of high-quality data on river litter by the general public.
IzVRS presented the results of the project ‘Conducting expert analyses to identify potential sites for the temporary storage of waste that would be generated in the event of a major maritime accident’. The analyses provide an important technical basis for an effective response in the event of major environmental accidents at sea, as they identify potential sites for the temporary collection and treatment of waste generated during the clean-up of pollution.
This morning, as part of the supporting programme for the Whitewater Slalom World Cup, an awareness-raising event for children took place at the Tacen Canoeing Centre, organised by the Water Institute of the Republic of Slovenia (IzVRS). More than 140 children from primary schools in Ljubljana had registered for the workshops.
On International Earth Day, a ceremony was held in Ljubljana to present the Marko Vincenc Lipold plaques, with which the Geological Survey of Slovenia (GeoZS) recognises significant scientific, research, development and professional achievements in the field of geology.
